On Friday 1st December Kev Lawrence will ‘switch on’ Christmas on the local community radio station PCRFM![]()

The famous countdown to Christmas song ‘Sleeps Till Santa’ gets played each morning on the breakfast show at 7.30am and 8.30am. ![]()

Kev said, “For the last 25 years or so I’ve always loved rolling out the song when we hit December, so children can really feel the excitement build. Each day the number of sleeps changes of course, and my favourite day for it is on Christmas Eve when it’s only “one more sleep to go”. ![]()

I always get messages from listeners saying how much the children enjoy it. Some parents remember listening to it when they were kids. And now they share it with their own children. ![]()

Over the years there have been different versions. The version we have now was produced in London with professional musicians and singers and a full band with brass section. ![]()

I’ve played out the song on every station I’ve ever worked at; Hereward fm, Lite FM, Heart Breakfast, BBC Radio Cambs, and for the last 3 years on PCR fm. ![]()

I remember one year at Hereward, the station manager tried to ban it. But there was an outcry from listeners and it was reinstated.”![]()
