It’s a lovely warm day today and where better to have a wander around than the embankment at the Peterborough Classic & Vintage Car Festival. It’s on today and tomorrow with a host of vehicles and motorcycles to see. I took a quick nosey to see who and what was down there…

First call was the Peterborough Visitor Centre where the lovely Tracy was giving out the official brochures (just £1 and the money goes to charity) that will tell you all about the exhibitors over this weekend. There are a few stalls for you to walk round which will definitely fill your appetite for a host of things… car memorabilia, cakes from Victoria’s (from City Market), Magpas helicopters where you can book yourself on a quick ride, Trophy pet foods and supplies, Bar Luna offering some fizzy prosecco, nibble on a Cake Kebab with their new build-a-diy-cake idea (a yummy idea), grab an espresso or cappuccino from Proper Coffee, win a raffle prize from the Breast Cancer Care stall (5 tickets for £1), eat some lovely fish & chips from the mobile Fishtastic, one for the kids and ‘big’ kids alike is the pick’n’mix old sweets van (including sugar-free jars of sweeties too) and you can even ask for your favourite tipple at the Gin & Fizz Stop so there’s plenty of non-car enthusiasts.

Secondly, you’ll be walking around and admiring the beauty that some of these cars still hold. From classic Austin, Wolseley, Rover, VW Camper, Jaguar, Consul and many more as well as the TVR Club. I particularly love the older vehicles and their intriguing mascots. For those more interested in two wheels rather than one you’ll find a host of big bikes at the bottom area, some from the Vulcan Riders Association.

Thirdly, kids and food. You’ll find a few fairground rides to keep the kids happy and there’s a food tent as well as the other bites from the stalls.

The show is on from 10.30am on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd September.

  • 7am – Access for vehicle owners (must be parked by 9.15am)
  • 10.30am – Show open to the public
  • 5pm – Show closes
