Something old, something new

2023-07-29T13:45:32+01:00July 29th, 2023|Adults Only, Shopping, Uniqueness|

I’ve just been to get a preview of a new boutique opening in the cathedral precincts and this time it’s wedding bells. Bridal Reloved owner Lucy has just put the finishing touches to her dream and will be opening her boutique tomorrow on Sunday for all to see. What is it about? Bridal Reloved is all about no waste. Whether it’s sample designer dresses, ex catalogue dresses or even dresses preloved from a previous wedding… they are all beautiful. Not everyone has a huge budget for their wedding and dresses can normally cost over £2000, so why not reduce

Breathing new life into a 100yr old shop!

Breathing new life into something over 100 years old! MD Coffee closed from the market area a fair while ago now, however, after spending weeks doing some renovation inside the old D’arcy’s jewellery shop which closed after an enormous 97 years of trading, Deborah and Masoud opened their coffee shop on Monday to the public and it looks fabulous! Deborah has kept some of the old items which used to be inside the jewellers, namely one of the jewellery cabinets, which has been carefully moved from the front to the back area and now has a display of jewellery

Happy 40th Birthday!

Oh my gosh, can you actually believe that Queensgate has just turned 40 years old!!!!! I can't, I know it feels a long time ago but 40 YEARS! Do you remember the old buildings being demolished and Queensgate growing in its place. I know it must have happened but don't recall much except going into this lovely new 'indoor' place for shopping. It was great to be able to be inside and not outside under the elements of our street shopping any more. There were fountains you could throw money in, also where the nativity scene used to be,

Elsie & Me Boutique

It was wonderful to see another small independent business open yesterday in Peterborough's Westgate Arcade, so I popped in to see what they had to offer our lovely Peterborough residents. Elsie & Me is the proud boutique of Helen & Amber Hardy. A mother and daughter duo, Helen has named the shop after her Nan, Elsie, whose name has come down through the generations as it is also her mother's and daughter's middle name. I also asked Helen why a clothes shop? Her response was very similar to a lot of ladies in Peterborough finding it hard to find

Skate & Paint

We went for a nosey in what is possibly Peterborough and Cambridgeshire's ONLY Skate and Paint one-stop shop. Not that I'm a skateboarder myself that is... (but I have been on one a bit of a while ago...) BDco Skate and Paint is a new skate shop and paint supplier in Peterborough. Well, we say new, but unfortunately, they opened just before covid struck and it meant that they couldn’t trade as they'd hoped and had to close for half the year. On top of that, they had some location issues and had to move location in Second Drove,

2022 Calendar Launch

2021-10-29T10:39:31+01:00October 11th, 2021|Art, General, Shopping, Uniqueness|

On 27th August 2021 we began our #2022CalendarCompetition... Last year 2020 saw the arrival of the We Love Peterborough Calendar with photographs taken by us around the city. THIS YEAR 2021 we wanted to see yours.... You were all involved, the people who live in the area. It was a chance to show us your best shots. There was a maximum of 3 entries per person and the amount we received of different places was wonderful. Plenty were received of Ferry Meadows, a firm favourite with everyone, Thorpe Meadows a close second place - we obviously like being near

Just Add Ice!

What a treat today as Nene Valley Spirits opened its doors as Peterborough’s first micro-distillery in the Nene Valley region, offering handcrafted, premium gin in small batches. Jo, Leigh, Abi and Shelley are located in the newly renovated Artisan Courtyard area at Sacrewell Farm and Country Park. A place where more small businesses will be located - a great idea. It's an extra treat today as it's Christmassy with Santa's sleigh and cottage just around the corner, a large Christmas tree in the courtyard and I was lucky enough to spy a peacock wandering around too. Anyway enough of

Nothing Beats Chocolate

Looking for a few early Christmas presents I went up to the newly-opened (well 10 weeks ago) Stamford Heavenly Chocolates new shop at Sacrewell Farm. Tucked away in the corner of Sacrewell Farm's new Courtyard area, it looks a very nice improvement on their Stamford location. The waft of sweetness hits you as you walk in the shop and you're greeted with an array of chocolate items everywhere along with a bit of sparkle, a Christmas tree, a reindeer and of course a Santa Claus! Ho, Ho, Ho. They've now got lots of space which includes a huge area

It’s New Lush

Wow how amazed can you be!!! I’ve never been into Lush (Queensgate, Peterborough) because I thought it was just perfumed soaps... how wrong can you be! I was met by Florence and Georgia (Store Mgr) who I have to say are sooooo knowledgable about every single product and I’ve just learnt about all of them. Throughout their opening day they will running workshops on making your own products and also through the coming weeks ahead. The shop is larger and looks wonderful with yoghurt pot shelving and reclaimed wood cabinets for their products ...all created by using waste products.

Finally, no more maze walking…

Thursday at 8.55am and I'm waiting with a few more people to enter into John Lewis, I'm awaiting the opening of the Ori Caffe, but I can finally see inside the main upper floor doors to John Lewis's beauty area and I must say it's a hive of activity......lots of staff bustling around, radios in hand, tidying and sorting with a few last minute checks and then Ta Da! 9am and the roller goes up.... as we walk in all the staff are looking at us! Little did I know that I was actually walking into their main undressing of
