A place very close to my heart is Central Park. I grew up just two streets away and played for hours and hours on end as a child back in the 70s & 80s. When you visit memories flood back, however much has changed and much hasn’t. The rocking horse, the witches hat and the roundabouts where you held on for dear life as a mate pushed or pulled it to its limits along with a huge slide of which, yes I stood on the top (please don’t tell my mum!) are now long gone. They have been replaced

It’s Time for Panto!

Christmas is definitely on its way when the Panto starts and tonight I'm visiting for the first run at The Cresset at Bretton. My first comment is that everything is highly organised. On arrival via the main doors you are reminded to put your mask on, then I used the allocated hand sanitiser station and over to get my temperature checked. (Phew! I got a green light). Into the foyer to get my tickets checked and as I hadn't pre-ordered a drink I went over to the allocated and cordoned off queue area to order what I wanted at

A Piece of Art

Wood, metal, concrete, grass and water... it’s all a piece of art. I’ve not been here since last summer and thought I’d take a walk this weekend after we’d been put into our second lockdown. So a nice place to meander around Peterborough Sculpture Park did the trick of clearing my mind in the sunshine. Located at Thorpe Meadows the Sculpture Park sits behind the Dragonfly Hotel and The Boat House – two places for a nice cup of coffee (when they are open). The starting point is over on the left hand side of the Rowing Lake, before

I think there’s no better place to start you all off in Peterborough, but with a visit to one of the most used and most popular places in Peterborough which is Nene Park and especially the part we all love, Ferry Meadows. It’s our very own piece of the country - in the city. Situated just 3 miles out of the centre and next to the Ortons, it’s a massive land area which was created back in 1978 and has never stopped being a go-to place for walking, cycling, bird watching, duck feeding, nature watching, fishing, playing and open

Take the **FIRST LOOK*** at Sacrewell Farm & Country Centre’s new outdoor play area.... The ribbon was cut today (Friday 23rd October) by Jane Scriven who is the chair of trustees from the William Scott Abbott Trust. She is so pleased that Sacrewell can now offer such a wonderful adventure area for children to play in as well as exploring the rest of the park. Ticket sales for the area will be available shortly, it’s not quite finished today due to the bad weather, which means that it will be socially controlled with not too many children in one

Just Messing About on the River

What a glorious afternoon of sunshine to have had the wonderful opportunity of trying out the new electrically- powered ‘Wyndham’ boat trip at Nene Park Ferry Meadows, getting for its launch next week. ‘Captain James’ was at the helm of this lovely little boat on Overton Lake with Oliver telling us all about the details and future plans. You can have a ride on the lake next week and then it will be put away to reopen at Easter 2021. The trip starts off at the jetty opposite the visitor centre where you will be able to sanitise your

Just Grazing…

There's a little hidden gem that you need to know about situated at Orton Southgate which will fill your belly with goodies galore whether eating in or delivered to home. Dorinda started her Gaze & Graze business back in February working from home with her little one Noah. She offered takeaway boxes of food that you can basically pick on all day long. Lockdown came and instead of her businesses taking a step back it took a step up. Deliveries to homes were flying out her door. Dorinda moved to out-of-home premises to keep up with demand and now

Dip In!

Dip in! After all that turkey what a refreshing change for some Italian food and where nicer than Bella Italia - Peterborough (Peterborough)? We didn’t want pizza we just wanted meat or pasta. We’d seen an offer of theirs; sign up and get 50% off your main... so we decided to go. It was half full in the restaurant at Hampton, which was great as we hadn’t booked a table. We were seated immediately into a booth and given their menus. The restaurant has Italian bits around on the walls, doesn’t really feel a ‘rustic’ Italian just a nice

We’re off to see the Wizard.... What can I say this has to be the best ever pantomime I’ve been to.   It doesn’t mean that the others are not good, not by any means, because they are what they are...However, the Wizard of Oz is basically a show rather than just a pantomime.   You will find all your favourite characters within the show led by Dorothy-the lost girl, the brainless Scarecrow, the heartless Tin Man, the cowardly Lion and a star performance by Toto the dog who puts in her own star performance (Tilly). Glinda, the Good
