I think there’s no better place to start you all off in Peterborough, but with a visit to one of the most used and most popular places in Peterborough which is Nene Park and especially the part we all love, Ferry Meadows. It’s our very own piece of the country - in the city. Situated just 3 miles out of the centre and next to the Ortons, it’s a massive land area which was created back in 1978 and has never stopped being a go-to place for walking, cycling, bird watching, duck feeding, nature watching, fishing, playing and open

Take the **FIRST LOOK*** at Sacrewell Farm & Country Centre’s new outdoor play area.... The ribbon was cut today (Friday 23rd October) by Jane Scriven who is the chair of trustees from the William Scott Abbott Trust. She is so pleased that Sacrewell can now offer such a wonderful adventure area for children to play in as well as exploring the rest of the park. Ticket sales for the area will be available shortly, it’s not quite finished today due to the bad weather, which means that it will be socially controlled with not too many children in one

What a glorious afternoon of sunshine to have had the wonderful opportunity of trying out the new electrically- powered ‘Wyndham’ boat trip at Nene Park Ferry Meadows, getting for its launch next week. ‘Captain James’ was at the helm of this lovely little boat on Overton Lake with Oliver telling us all about the details and future plans. You can have a ride on the lake next week and then it will be put away to reopen at Easter 2021. The trip starts off at the jetty opposite the visitor centre where you will be able to sanitise your

What does Peterborough have to offer? Not much except a Cathedral? Well actually, it does! We Love Peterborough is all about raising awareness of what's on, what's new and sharing the good things about our city. We started out way back in April 2014 with 1 follower (me) and a bunch of photographs. Nearly 7 years on and we have a following of over 17,000 people. We believe that all you have to do is open your eyes and see what's right in front of you. We are all guilty of getting used to our surroundings no matter where

With some friends over from Italy who had already seen our lovely Cathedral it was a no-brainer to take them out to the countryside and visit Burghley House near Stamford! We arrived ready for entry at 11am on Saturday by car, we could have travelled by train from Peterborough to Stamford but the issue then is getting out to the houses' entrance which is a fair way from the station... so car it was. I'd purchased entry online first as it was slightly cheaper than on the door (so I'd recommend this to you too) and you get a

At 7.30pm the Earth began turning at Peterborough Cathedral! Tonight, on the evening of Monday 19th August 2019, the winner of a BBC Radio Cambridgeshire prize draw, Sue from Thorney, had the honour of switching-on the rotation of the Gaia Earth artwork by Luke Jerram. It's an incredible sight and a massive seven metres in diameter and again, like The Museum of the Moon, this representation of our planet was created by Luke Jerram by using 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the earth’s surface. Now it has been switched on, the rotation will take 4 minutes in total which

What a Haven!

Stepping into Railworld Wildlife Haven is like stepping into a different dimension, it is so majestic, peaceful and calming. From where I live it is just a five-minute walk to Railworld Wildlife Haven and I couldn’t wait as for me it would be like walking down memory lane from when I used to visit with my Dad when I was younger. At the entrance I met Will, who said he has been volunteering since 2012, as well as Bill and Becky. They were all very enthusiastic about Railworld Wildlife Haven and told me a bit about the Haven. For me the

Sunny weather welcomed the joyous event for Deepings Carnival on Sunday 30th June. Our Student Journalist Ella attended: The event was held on the John Eve Field which is organised every year by the Deepings Lions Club and Deepings Rotary Club. Beginning at 11:30 am, a parade commenced from Jubilee Park before making its way into the John Eve Field to mark the celebration of supporting Armed Forces Day. Lasting until 5:00 pm, the field was full of various stalls, supporting many different causes and events. Such as a charity stall for the RSPCA with a raffle, food stalls

The Yaxley Vintage festival is a fantastic way to spend the weekend. Hosted by the local scouts and guides, the festival was home to numerous stalls and rides, as well as a petting farm, supplying you with food to feed the bunnies and goats (for free!) making it a perfect place for young children. The event ran on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th June. The festival is free to enter, although donations are accepted. However, it doesn’t stop there! The main attraction of the festival was the fun dog show. The audience were greeted by an abundance of cute
