Oh my gosh, where do I start? I was invited by Hannah to go up to Sacrewell Farm to see what their 'VIP Lambing Experience' was all about.... I could go back today, and tomorrow and the next day... However, Megan has the job already!!!!! I met Hannah yesterday evening with excitement at what to expect. As it was not quite time for feeding we had our walk around the farm first. You forget how big Sacrewell is, it's massive. You'll definitely get a few steps in, that's for sure. We made our way down through the indoor soft

Star Wars Has Arrived

Unofficial Galaxies is one of the most exciting exhibits to see this year in Peterborough, especially if you are already a fan of Star Wars. You’ll be impressed by this 120+ piece collection which includes a full-size Landspeeder on show which was purchased from London’s Elstree Studios - the home of the original trilogy going back to 1977, and one of the most valuable props is the desk and chair of young Anakin Skywalker from the 1999 film The Phantom Menace. Also on display are an array of original production items including light sabres from Luke and Darth Vader,

Bull’s Eye 180!!! At Glo-Golf

2023-02-02T13:00:37+00:00February 2nd, 2023|Days Out, Fun-for-all, General, Uniqueness|

We were invited along to a free hour of playing games at the newly renovated Glo-Golf on Wentworth Street, so needless to say we were happy to attend for some early 5pm entertainment on a Wednesday evening. The invitation was to play GloGolf's new darts games and to try out a game of shuffleboard. We loved it! The Glo Darts is an AR darts game which is the latest technology in social entertainment...the system detects where your darts land on and off the board.  They have a master VIP area for darts which is where we started off. Now I've

Platinum Jubilee Scarecrow Trail

Friday I thought I'd get myself to Werrington Green to this amazing little activity… Werrington Show’s Scarecrow trail is under way and I took a drive down to see what it is all about. On this lovely sunny day, you can park your car up, like me, and do the trail by foot or do the longer second trail by car or on your bike. You just need to sign up for £1 and you’ll get a lovely trail map filled with information and a Q&A sheet. You basically need to follow the map and find each scarecrow and

The Easter break is here and there is plenty to do at Nene Park. Just take a gander at the things you can do with the kids to keep them occupied. Spring is Sprung

So Sunday was a different day as we'd just heard about a little area in Longthorpe which has recently been transformed and couldn't resist going to take a look at what all the fuss was about...down at Holywell Ponds. It wasn't too difficult to find as it sits near Thorpe Hall's vast estate of land. There are a few footpaths to this small area by foot but we got to it through Longthorpe. We found the signpost and walked along a woodchip pathway - great as it had been raining the night before and didn't want to get too

A ‘Hidden Gem’ right under your nose!

Not many people know of, or have even heard of this place, most will simply brush it off as a hobbyist place to visit, but trust me it’s not that at all. Take a relaxing walk over Town Bridge coming out of the city centre and then either walk down along the River Nene pathway or go through the arches from Fair Meadow car park (where the fair usually sits when it comes) to NVR Peterborough station and you will find Railword Wildlife Haven. With just a £4 entry for adults and £3 for concessions and children, you can

A place very close to my heart is Central Park. I grew up just two streets away and played for hours and hours on end as a child back in the 70s & 80s. When you visit memories flood back, however much has changed and much hasn’t. The rocking horse, the witches hat and the roundabouts where you held on for dear life as a mate pushed or pulled it to its limits along with a huge slide of which, yes I stood on the top (please don’t tell my mum!) are now long gone. They have been replaced

A Piece of Art

2021-03-30T14:47:07+01:00December 1st, 2020|Days Out, Great For Kids, SPARK Magazine, Summer, Uniqueness, Walks|

Wood, metal, concrete, grass and water... it’s all a piece of art. I’ve not been here since last summer and thought I’d take a walk this weekend after we’d been put into our second lockdown. So a nice place to meander around Peterborough Sculpture Park did the trick of clearing my mind in the sunshine. Located at Thorpe Meadows the Sculpture Park sits behind the Dragonfly Hotel and The Boat House – two places for a nice cup of coffee (when they are open). The starting point is over on the left hand side of the Rowing Lake, before
