Mushroom Cappuccino! Are You Mad??

2023-05-09T22:19:52+01:00May 9th, 2023|Great Food, New Restaurants|

We were invited to tantalise our taste buds at 1498 The Spice Affair. It was opened by Lloyd 18 months ago, yet we'd never been - a little hesitant that the dishes might be too spicy for our palate - however, we shouldn't have been as our experience this evening was anything but hot - for us! Hidden away down an alleyway off Priestgate is the entrance to the restaurant where you are greeted with not only colourful street art of Goan villages and a market scene - a great opportunity to take a selfie before or after eating

Rooster & Redneck – Too Much To Handle

We were invited to go and try out Higgsy's in their new second location. Last November saw the opening of ‘The Hatch’ down on London Road at Norman Cross and has been so popular with the locals that they wanted to bring it into the centre. So their second outlet is now at Glo-golf, where it opened last week. Run by Adam and Amber, I asked why burgers? The simple answer was that Adam wanted to create something he liked eating and the idea of high quality burgers was the way forward rather than plain offerings from other outlets

Student Food – Yes Please!

Surprise of the day, week, year… well life actually as I’ve never been. I saw a lovely event menu in November and completely forgot about it until I received a reminder email from Restaurant manager Francesca De Falco…it was a couple of night’s notice but I thought, yes I’m game - I want to try this out. Do you know what? I’m glad I did as I’ll definitely be back…. The Parcs restaurant is situated in Peterborough College and gives the students the chance to work and gain real-life experience. My expectations were not high and the menu sounded

Talking Dirty!

Did you know that Peters’ Cleaners was established in Peterborough in February 1963 by Peter Grist and his sons Peter and Paul making it one of the older businesses in the area? It has been providing dry cleaning and laundry services in Peterborough and Stamford for nearly 60 years. Congratulations to them. So what's on their horizon? Peters’ Cleaners is asking customers to ‘talk dirty’ to them as they launch a new pod near Bourne! After the success of their two cleaning pods in Peterborough, award-winning dry cleaning company Peters’ Cleaners has announced that a new pod will be

Eating out in the countryside: Woodnewton

2023-03-01T17:16:15+00:00February 19th, 2023|General, Great Food|

#OutAndAbout around the Peterborough area. Sometimes it's all about trying new places and there really is an abundance of choice when it comes to food in and around the Peterborough and surrounding area. We drove out to the west of Peterborough to a quaint small village called Woodnewton which I'd never heard of, let alone been to, and at the heart of it is a lovely restaurant called The White Swan. Originally built as an Inn in 1790 the White Swan has been a pub in the village over these many years, and is now owned and run by

Games & Community what a great mix.

2023-03-01T17:15:03+00:00February 14th, 2023|Escapologists!, Fun-for-all, General, Great For Kids, Uniqueness|

Last week I took a visit over to Angle at Walton. If you don't know about them already, they are a gaming lounge for box games, war games, virtual reality, axe throwing and escape rooms. A complete complex for the community to come and use even if it's just for a coffee and a chat.   Their axe throwing (used to be at Peterborough One Retail Park) is now here too and it has ample lanes for groups to play. Grab an axe and aim at the board, most points wins. Simple really. You'll be paying £20 per hour

Bull’s Eye 180!!! At Glo-Golf

2023-02-02T13:00:37+00:00February 2nd, 2023|Days Out, Fun-for-all, General, Uniqueness|

We were invited along to a free hour of playing games at the newly renovated Glo-Golf on Wentworth Street, so needless to say we were happy to attend for some early 5pm entertainment on a Wednesday evening. The invitation was to play GloGolf's new darts games and to try out a game of shuffleboard. We loved it! The Glo Darts is an AR darts game which is the latest technology in social entertainment...the system detects where your darts land on and off the board.  They have a master VIP area for darts which is where we started off. Now I've

Katana makes a spark!

#FIRST LOOK inside Katana Peterborough… It looks amazing with 3 Teppanyaki grill spaces for you to sit at and enjoy watching food cooked before your eyes for a fabulous experience. A downstairs bubbles bar draws you in and is where you can have cocktails before you eat, or whilst you eat from that particular menu. The space looks enormous due to a clever mirroring effect, but it's lovely and cosy with booths and tables depending on your party size. If you have something to celebrate or a large group you can use their private room ‘Sakura Suite’ which is

Grab a Box and Play

Dane & Becky have been working hard to get it ready and all they are waiting for now is the signage and the coffee machine. ☕️ Never been before? You book a table by the hour and choose a game to play… I actually couldn’t see any games that I recognised like that family argument causer Monopoly! They are new games which can be anything from; an easy family game to a difficult strategy game, from a solo game to a team escape game. If you need a hand to pick a game - they are experienced at giving

It started at ‘The Beginning’

We're standing here at 4.45pm on another cold November night, hoping it won't rain as we queue for this year's Luxmuralis light show at Peterborough Cathedral. Our tickets checked we are allowed in as we walk through the gates to an awaiting West Front of the Cathedral for the magic to begin. Once again we are a fairly big crowd for this first showing and after a countdown the lights and music begins. We start with a whirl as Santa's sleigh glides over from right to left leaving a trail of magic stars. It's a lovely way to start
