Armed Forces Day 2019

It’s Armed Forces Day today in Peterborough town centre: 29th June 2019.

It’s a pleasure to walk around a busy Cathedral Square and Bridge Street full of stalls and activities. Along Bridge Street there are plenty of fair rides for the kids – Helter Skelter – jumping ropes, bumper cars and rides. Further up there are some independent stall holders who were offering gifts for you to buy like multi-coloured letters, jewellery and delicious cakes – especially a giant pride cake which look yummy…. I didn’t have any though! and face painting for the kiddies.

Around the main arena in Cathedral Square are plenty of charity stalls including Peterborough Veterans, The Royal British Legion, Royal Air Force, Air Raid Shelter Bar for drinks, Girl Guides, We Shrink Bills, Help our Local Heroes and Veterans Fund, Blood runners and much more for you to gain information from, even a show from Stanground Fire Brigade.

The main Armed Forces parade came up Bridge Street and ended in formation in the main arena on Cathedral Square. It was lovely to see them all in their uniforms celebrating this day.
