Last week I took a visit over to Angle at Walton. If you don’t know about them already, they are a gaming lounge for box games, war games, virtual reality, axe throwing and escape rooms. A complete complex for the community to come and use even if it’s just for a coffee and a chat.

Their axe throwing (used to be at Peterborough One Retail Park) is now here too and it has ample lanes for groups to play. Grab an axe and aim at the board, most points wins. Simple really. You’ll be paying £20 per hour per person for this. If you have your own axe (some people do) you can use your own!

The main area downstairs is allocated to gaming at tables. Plenty of board games are available to choose from to sit and play to your heart’s content. Or maybe you feel like getting to know how to play war games. They have board areas with already built items to work with or you could buy some characters and sit and paint if you wanted to so you have your army. There’s an area for playing Xbox and if there’s a new game that you dying to play, you will be limited if there is a queue – just to make it fair and not to hog the game all day. (great idea) In the corner they have a FREE games area which are rotated often. You can come and play these for FREE then if you like the place or like to play, then you can buy a wristband.

Venture around the corner and if you fancy trying out the virtual reality kit they have the Oculus Quest 2 where you can play numerous games suitable for all ages. You have a ‘zoned’ out area so you won’t be bumping into anyone which is a great idea, when you’re playing the game it warns you if you are stepping out of your zone. Alternatively have a go at the air-hockey games area or at the punch bag.

Pricing for this is with a wristband and it costs just £5 for all day!!!! A cheap afternoon or morning for the kids or all the family to come into the hub and play together for not much money.

In the middle of the room they also have a wonderful antique chest – this is a group escape room treasure chest. You play £30 for a group of up to 6 people and you have 45 minutes to break the codes and get the treasure. It’s called the Zheng Sao Box – an 18th century pirate has locked her treasure in this chest – the box has been found and many have attempted to recover the medallion of Siam, to no avail. Will you be the team to match her wits, and steal her treasures? Dare you dig through the contents of the feared Zheng Sao? – It looked fabulous so will probably something I come back and play.

If you love escape games then you can book one of their escape rooms which are situated upstairs. This is charged at £20 per person and you have an hour to solve all the clues and get out. The themes are self-built and include The Candy Shop – “Children love the local candy shop and they love the friendly, warm, charming old lady who’s owned it forever. The village children all go in with pocket money and leave with pockets full of treats for the day. Occasionally one or two children don’t leave, but that’s probably not worth worrying about.” then there is The Getaway – “You’ve not been on holiday in absolutely ages and have been loudly complaining about it to anyone who will listen, so when a strange letter arrives informing you you’ve won an all expenses paid mountain Getaway, you don’t question it!” and The Victim – “There’s a killer on the rampage. Bodies are stacking up, and the police are dragging their feet. They’re not even convinced the killings are connected.”

If you attend there is a small parking area at the back of the complex. Enjoy.

They are open from Monday to Saturday 10am to midnight and on Sunday it’s 10am to 10pm.
